FUN Overview

FrameFree United Networks (FUN) is the world's first Internet platform to offer end-to-end Publishing, Scheduling and Tracking of digital content for efficient, worldwide distribution for both web viewers and digital signage.

Optimized for the FrameFree family of advanced digital motion imagery tools, FUN offers an easy-to-use web interface to manage your content. You can choose to either serve your FrameFree content from your own server, or upload it to the FUN Content Delivery Network (CDN) for more secure delivery. Either format is playable via the FrameFree player browser plug-in.

Any content that you upload to our CDN for delivery will be converted to our more secure file format, which is ONLY playable from the CDN. This allows content owners to protect and monetize their valuable digital property. After uploading digital media to FUN, your files can be scheduled for world-wide distribution automatically to servers nearest each viewer using the the Akamai Content Delivery Network (CDN).

Our high-speed CDN partner is Akamai. With over 20,000 servers on 1000 networks in 70 countries, they ensure that your media files reach your audience as fast as possible, anywhere on the planet.

Both content owners and media industry resellers can sign up for a FUN account.

Want to push your message to the bleeding edge? Team up FUN with FrameFree Digital Poster (DP) to deliver low-footprint, hi-resolution media files anywhere on the planet. Use DP to author your movies and advertising. Use FUN to deploy media schedules and update local media files on your set-top boxes (part of the complete DP Digital Signage solution), and grab serious attention from the viewing public when your media files are displayed on professional large screen LCDs.

Regular FUN Account

Regular accounts have basic media archiving features. Any content that you upload to your FUN account will be kept in an archive. You have direct control over whether or not each file accessible by the public. You can upload and serve regular movie files (such as Quicktime or Windows Media formats) from the CDN, although these files are not protected via our secure file format.

Content Tracking

Each file that is uploaded to the FUN CDN for delivery on the Akamai network has detailed usage reports showing the number of views, as well as the total amount of traffic (in megabytes) each file generates and corresponding fees. Two views of traffic charts show you the breakdown of weekly and monthly activity. Also, you'll be able to see when you were charged for the cost of the traffic.

Enterprise FUN Account

Enterprise accounts have all the same functions of Regular accounts, plus a host of more advanced features. For example, you have the ability to preview an uploaded FrameFree file from the CDN before committing to publishing the file to our secure format. In addition to more robust scheduling and organizational tools for your uploaded files, Enterprise accounts can also have multiple users to allow a team of people to use the FUN system. The primary user, or first user of the enterprise account, can invite other people to be users on the same enterprise account. The primary user can also set the permissions for each account holder, incorporating workflow roles and permissions so that you can control access to the entire publishing process with Artist, Publisher, Purchaser and Admin roles.

Enterprise Account Permissions

Artists are able to download and install pre-purchased copies of FrameFree Studio for authoring content, as well as uploading finished files to FUN for review before publishing.

Publishers are able to upload files to FUN, as well as release files to the CDN. Also, Publishers can manage media campaigns (see "Campaign Scheduling").

Purchaser accounts have permission to make transactions in the FUN Store, such as buying more licenses for FrameFree software, or purchasing pre-paid credits for publishing FrameFree generated content to our secure delivery file format. Also, Purchasers can see transaction history of the account.

Admin accounts have all of the above permissions (except for Purchaser permissions, unless expressly given), as well as the ability to add more users to the Enterprise account, adjust other user's permissions, and ultimately cancel or disable accounts if the need arises.

The Primary Account holder on the Enterprise account has all permissions available, and for security reasons those cannot be altered.

Each account can have any combination of the permissions available, so you can tailor access to each individual depending on their role in your team.

Campaign Scheduling

Any files that are uploaded to your Enterprise account media archive can be set for automatic release to the network, as well as automatic removal. This feature is useful for running a timed media campaign, and allows you to plan ahead by creating all of your media and designing your webpages for the public to show the media. Any scheduled files are released or removed at midnight (Texas timezone). Media campaigns can be set to have a maximum traffic fee as well. For example, if you're working within a limited budget, you can set a ceiling for accumulation of traffic fees within FUN. If the ceiling is reached before the campaign is over, then FUN will automatically remove the files in the campaign from the CDN. You will be alerted via email if this happens so you can react accordingly in your own website. For your convenience, media campaigns can manually be cancelled or modified as well.
